Cut my bill??

I posted a thread yesterday about my gas and elec being £66 and £60 per month. I last got a bill on 21st May and I phoned yesterday and gave a meter reading and they told me i've used roughly £35 on each which is roughly £18 per month. Meaning I pay £48 to my Gas debt and £42.00 to my electricity. I am struggling as it is at the moment and paying £126 per month to these alone is meaning I struggle even more. Can I refuse to pay this amount and try to force the monthly amount down??

    From your other thread
The reason it is so high is that last year, my boiler broke and it took the council 6 weeks to get my gas sorted, so they gave me heaters which run up the electricity, then I discovered that the company had only ever given me estimated readings. So I got the readings myself and got it all sorted up, but now i'm left paying nearly £1000 between them both.

You're paying back arrears, plus trying to build up credit for the winter months so the fact that you've only used £35 of fuel since May is irrelevant really.

I understand that i'm paying debt on it which I have no problem in doing as i suppose its my own fault really that I didn't realise i'd only ever had estimated bills. I've learnt from that and i always make sure now. I'll be phoning them every month now to update it so that I can hopefully get the arrears down.

    Thanks for replying.
