Fencing open plan front garden-planning?

I live in one of those stupid open plan houses which has unfenced front gardens. As i despise my neighbour and believe that good fences make better neighbours, I'd like to put in a fence to clearly demarcate the property boundary . This would also allow me to plent my front garden, make it look better and prevent ignorant people shortcutting across it.the boundaries are very clear anyway as it a row of houses. There is a restriction in the deeds. Has anyone done this and fallen foul of nosey planning officials? The front gardens do not have a service corridor runnig through them. they are simply open.

Good morning: Take a look at the Garden Law forum...we found it useful when we put up our fence last year.

We can't have a fence either, so we planted some nice thick green evergreen bushes and made a hedge and stop people walking across the front garden. The drive is on the other side, so we have planters with things in to mark the boundary and to stop next door parking on our drive.
Here I go again on my own....
