Croydon / London

Hello, we are travelling and staying in Croydon on this Friday until Sunday and need something to do for myself, hubby and our 3 year old to do on the Saturday. We don't mind travelling into London if an attraction is worth it, or driving a little.....Any ideas??

Personally I'd head into London, train is quick and easy and there is plenty to do regardless of weather. Plenty of 2 for 1's or free entry to museums e.g natural histroy/science or there are the traditional sightseeing walks along Embankment parliament traf sq etc.

Have only been in Croydon for work purposes so not sure if there is much to do but I don't think there is much in Croydon itself to write home about.

I live in Croydon, in fact I'm there right now...

Definitely agree with *manda* there really isn't much to see in Croydon, it has 'above average' high street shopping but its mostly the same shops you'll get in any other UK large town/city anywhere else. The train from East Croydon to London Bridge takes 15 mins (19 to Victoria) and there are heaps of london tourist attraction type things to do there.

There are enough bars and restaurants in Croydon to stop you going hungry but, scenic wise, there's very little. London would be better and East Croydon train station is good in that you can be in London in minutes.

    You could:

Go to Buckingham Palace and have a walk through St. James' park.
Go to the Tower Bridge experience and/or The Tower of London.
Walk along the Thames and visit the Tate Modern.
Go on the London Eye (the London Aquarium's right next door).
Take a walk through Covent Garden (although it may be very busy)
    Visit Borough Market.
Take a cruise down the Thames river on one of the river boats.

I've listed a number of things as I don't know how much you are willing to spend.
It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?

Oh and if you go on the river boats some of them give you a discount if you show a trainticket ( I think)
