Opera PMS

Hi everyone.

Not sure if I am posting this onto right section of the forum...but was wondering if anyone knows where I could download a version of Opera PMS (property management system) which are used in hotels. Or maybe a training version?
Need to get familiar with the programme for my new job, which would be really useful but unable to find anything :(

Many thanks

This is a specialised piece of software costing, no doubt, £lots, and probably requiring someone to come and set it up for the hotel as staggering cost. The chances of it being available as a download are extremely remote!

They presumably are expecting to have to train you if you've never used it before, so I wouldn't be concerned about your current lack of knowledge. You can always say that you wanted to get familiar with it off your own bat, but couldn't find a download location - at least that would show you were keen and had thought about the matter!
  • Hi

Opera is the latest version of the Micros Fidelio PMS software which either runs at a property level on a server or from a centrally hosted location. There are several versions and differeing versions of Opera from the full blown Opera Enterprise, Opera or Opera Express.

As a former installer & trainer I can advise you that earlier version of the application ie V6 DOS were quite small and could run quite easily on the a laptop or desktop whilst Opera is a different kettle of fish. As John pointed out it is a specialised application and is not something readily available to a end user outside of the industry.

Having said that when I worked for the company we usually installed training versions of the application which are copies of live. It is a large application and I would certainly expect to have formal training by the property. What department are you going to work in? Resverations, Front Desk, Housekeeping, accounts etc?

Below is a link to the company website.
