formating lappy

had a new h/d fitted to my lappy a few months ago with xp home edition if i want to reformat how do i reinstall windows xp as i have no disc or back up:o

    Short answer: you can't.

    Long answer: you'll need to borrow a disc corresponding to your version of Windows XP, which will be either OEM or retail. Before you format and reinstall, you should copy any important data you have stored on the disk to another medium, such as an external HDD, USB flash drive or recordable CD/DVD.
