Hi I sell alot of items on ebay Im a powerseller. I sell alot of cars and motorbikes, I give a pesonal 07 number for people to contact me on.
Every other day I get a call from Virgin asking who I am as a customer is disputing his bill and can I confirm who I am. I reply and say that I sell stuff on Ebay, anyway the following month my number is then banned from Virgin. I have to get a new 07 number and change everything because I cant be called from Virgin. Why do they do this?
seriously try it, 07013139978 and 07013139979 both banned from Virgin. I used to sell on those numbers but had to get new numbers as those numbers now cant be called from Virgin. Try calling them from Virgin you will get number unobtainable or a message saying that they are no longer in use which is wrong because try calling them from any other network bt or any mobile and they work. Virgin has banned them all because I sell alot of things and people have phoned Virgin and said that they didnt make the calls and so Virgin have banned my numbers. I have to get new numbers every month because of this.

I suggest nobody actually call those numbers unless you want to be changed 46.489p/minute on BT (probably higher on other networks!)

The matter is in your hands. If you stop using disguised premium rate numbers (which is what revenue-sharing 070 numbers are - you hope that callers will think they are mobile numbers) and used a genuine 09 premium rate number or a standard geographical number, there'd be no problem.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Why don't you just give out a proper number like a mobile or landline instead?0

You could get yourself a PAYG SIM solely for this purpose, or you could warn people in large letters that calling an 070 number will cost them a fair bit.
Someone like this maybe a better bet (not used them myself)
