DLA "indefinite period" ?

Just wondering as I have a relative that was awarded DLA for life some 15 years ago.
It states "for life" on the original award and I was just wondering what the legal implications of this is and how it differs from an indefinate award.
My relative is no better infact he's a bit worse so he is entitled.
Sorry if this seems a stupid question but I have no idea how these benefits work.
Thankyou.0 -
I don't like the idea people think I am scrounging, I have told someone at Jobcentre Plus if they want to swap lifes I will happily take their good health, steady job and a happy familiy as frankly this is like a life sentence.
Here, here this is exactly how I feel, have felt for many years. If someone who is able bodied and lazy as hell and wants to sit around on their able butt all day wants to swap with me then I'll happily get some witch dr to do a hebee gebee on us and make the swap. I can walk, I can bend, if you saw me I would not 'look' disabled but they can't see that I have trouble wiping my own a**e can they! It p**sses me off that unless I'm in my wheelchair that I am 'not disabled' to some people. Pain is INVISIBLE and I don't like to make a fuss when I'm out and about even if I'm in agony, who wants to make a show of themselves in public, certainly not me, I am as stubborn as a mule and will push on through the pain. In fact I've been ill since I was 4 and if I hadn't been so stubborn I probably would've been confined to the wheelchair all the time or topped myself through depression. Sod the people who judge, yes there are fake people out there who try to con the system but it's the same with everything in life not just benefits. Take those who are lying scum to task but leave the rest of us alone we will stand firm in our own hearts knowing we have done no wrong, conscience clear0 -

The DLA used to be awarded For Life in some cases but they don't do it any more.0 -
Don't worry savagej, pretty sure ramsas is a troll.
I think so. The Forum Team have already removed one of his posts....making mine which contained a quote from him look out of context in places.
Ah well, thankfully we have an "ignore" facilty on this lovely forum where most people are only too glad to help.0 -
My last award was a life award and after seeing the trash progs on TV and seeing the faker stories in the papers I can understand why they changed it, many of these people were disabled when they were origanally awarded DLA and didnt tell the DWP when they vastly improved.
Its hell to re-new DLA but its also hell that people see us as scroungers because they watch TV and read the papers about the fakers, but wheres the compromise?
What do people have to gain if like the scroungers they improve so much that they would lose DLA? Peace of mind leaps into my mind, being able to do whatever you are able to do without worrying that someones reported you and the DWP are watching you for evidence but unfortunatly improvement is impossible for so many of us, just a decline (or should I say more of) in our healths and further disabilities.

many people claiming DLA are not has bad as they pretend to be FACT..go to any supermarket and see how many have problems only walking a few metres without having to stop through pain and discomfort. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
