Hiya - My other half also gets paid weekly and its soooo confusing for bills!! Also your more tempted to spend money as you know you only have to wait till Friday before payday comes again
I'm wondering whether it would be a good idea for you to have "weekly spends" my other half had some debt when I first met him which I helped him to get out of, he was similar to you and just had to spend money for the sake of spending it so I took over his monies and gave him a weekly allowance and once it was gone it was gone, sounds harsh but at the time it worked!
I was also confused as to what I should focus on paying off first, however most people have suggested going for the highest APR which I will do but first off I have chosen my smallest debt which is my nationwide overdraft, just so i can see progress! Once that has gone I will aim for the big ones!
Also I have joined a couple of challeneges on here which I have found really helpful and a great motivator!
Good Luck - Moneytroubles xxx:j6 debts cleared since joining MSE:j:eek: Remaining debts... Very / Halifax Loan/ A&L / Virgin cc / Lloyds / Sister :eek::smileyheaGetting Married 04.12.10 - The MSE way :smileyhea:dance: Making this house a home :dance:0 -
Note to selt:
Contact EON to set up some payment plan to pay the 400 a owe them
Hmmm....
Hiya costaerer :hello:
Just wanted to help with the E.ON debt if I could, just a couple points to check.
Make sure your account is billed up to date with accurate meter readings
Ask if you are on the best tariff for you ( there has been a couple of new ones lately )
Monthly Direct Debit gives extra discount off the bill ( every little helps )
You can also set up an arrangement to cover the amount of energy that you use and pay off the debit over a number of months.
If I can be of any more help, just give me a shout

i never find EON that helpful, my current debt is about £600, but they want monthly payments of over £200 per month, how on earth do they think you can afford that each month??? they dont take into account any individual circumstances at all, apart from trying to shove you on an extortionate pre-payment meter!! (well in my case anyhow)...Focusing on clearing the credit cards in 2018 :T0 -
Hi dottyanne,
I am sorry to hear that you have found E.ON unhelpful, this is not what we aim for at all.
Have you asked for the breakdown in your payments, how much is going to cover the usage and how much is repaying the debt.
If your usage is high, ask for help in reducing this, we have a energy efficiency department that you can speak to.
Also ask how many months the debt has been spread over, this can be negotiable and we can spread it over a longer period of time to make the monthly payments less.

Hi costaerer and everyone else
My OH also gets paid weekly but I get paid monthly. What I did a couple of years ago was save a whole months bills money up so we are actually a month ahead. It took some doing but is well worth it now. So by the end of every month we had all the bills money for the following month by saving a quarter of it every week. We got into a right pickle just paying bills week by week especially as OH is self employed and his income can fluctuate wildly from one week to the next.
Well done on what you've achieved so far!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
thanks sun addict.
i dont think ive got the patience to start doing that now. i just want to concentrate on clearing OH cc, 275 currently...going to pay 125 off it tomorrow, and saving another 300 for holiday fund in 8 weeks.
after i get back fromhols and oh has startd uni and got student loans etc might do that, and start tackling the bigger debts.
OH and myself basically have a guaranteed minimum income we base our SOA on. Sometimes, like at the moment, we can have an extra 500 pm which really helps.
Im very proud of myself currently,i have had 850 in my bank for nearly two weeks....usually it would have been long spent!!:T0
