Has anyone claimed CC charges from more than 6 years ago?

A quick question - I'm trying to decide what to do about my offer from Barclays. In total I was claiming £726.26 and after just one letter they have offered me £634.75, saying that they are only going back to July 2003.

I can't help feeling they've been pretty generous, and if there is no precedent for claiming charges earlier than 6 years ago I might accept, but if actually there are instances where Barclaycard have paid out on charges over 6 years old I might try one more letter and see where I get to.

What do you think?

Thanks,
Prawns

Ok, can you tell me whether we are talking Credit Card charges or Bank Account charges? I know the title says CC charges but I need to be certain that CC means credit card.

The dumbass in me forgot to read the rest of the post. In that case the answer is yes on the 6 year limit.

  • Thanks for responding so quickly - I'm assuming you mean by your response that there is no precedent for longer than 6 years and therefore I'd be better accepting what is offered now?

If it amounts to 6 years worth of charges then yes.
