Hi i would be grateful for some advise on this. I recently returned from my local tesco that now seems to employ these cowboys to monitor their parking.
I parked in an area of a carprk at the side of the store where they have recycling machines and they have yellow double lines there. I did my shopping and came out and spotted that i had been given a notice. The area where i parked does not have any of the typical warning notices which are placed in other areas of the stores car parks. I took photos and there are no signs at all present in the area i parked. I spoke to the guy who placed the sign on my car and he acknowledged that there were no signs in that area but that it was an offence to park in an area where there were double yellow lines.
How should i deal with this. First of all did i comit and offence in the first place by parking in an area where there are double yellow lines if that area is privately owned. Also there were no signs in place in that area and upon reading a sign later it makes no reference to you comiiting a parking violation by parking on a double yellow line anyway.
Is the common consensus on this to simply ignore any letters i have or should i write to them setting out my posituion.
i took photos showing that there were no signs in place in that area i was in.

Markings including yellow lines on private property are just that - markings. They are not enforceable in the same way as yellow lines on public roads are.
Just ignore any correspondence you get from the PPC, and eventually they will give up.Make no mistake it won't be easy since the correspondence will get increasingly frightening since this is the only way they can extort money from a motorist. They have no other cost effective way of producing revenue.0 -
You most certainly did not commit an offence.0

Ignore every thing they throw at you and just smile smugly to yourself.
