Hi, not sure if anyone can help me, I have been married for 2yrs and he has now left. I lived in the same property for 9yrs before he came on the sceen and we remortgaged just over a yr ago which put his name onto the deeds. I think he has now moved in with another female and cant even talk to me to sort stuff out. I am wondering if he is entitled to half the house even tho he has only been on the deeds for just over a yr? I am also wondering if I can change the locks?
Thanks
Thanks

If he is on the mortgage he is also on the deeds so yes he has an interest in the house.Nickyd1975 wrote: »Hi, not sure if anyone can help me, I have been married for 2yrs and he has now left. Hi all,
My partner has left me and moved back in with her parents with our two children, she says she cannot afford to give me half the mortgage payment each month as she only works part time and I am the one still living in the family home, both our names are on the mortgage(joint) and I was just wondering what sort of a position I am in legally about her paying half the mortgage payment as both our names are on the account, she is going to see a solicitor on Tuesday to find out the minimum amount she has to give me by law towards the mortgage, does anyone know what this percentage will be? i.e. 50% as its a joint mortgage, I have two jobs at the moment just to be able to afford all the bills and mortgage, I still live in the family home with all the bills etc and she lives with her parents, any help, advice or information on this would be very much appreciated.
Thank

Hi - If you change the locks and he wants to gain entry he can break a window and get in.....he wont be charged as he is entering his own property (name on the deeds). Difficult situation to be in. You should go to the citizens advice, they will tell you where to go for specific advice. Good luck.0
