drylining

I want to insulate some solid walls in the house. I read somewhere that you can buy thermal backed plasterboard with a moisture barrier. The article also said these could be glued to the wall, ie without the need for battens etc;

has anybody any knowledge or experience of/wuith such a product?

    Use Dri-wall adhesive, You must also use 2 mechanical fixings per board incase of fire

    Easy to install,Boards can get expensive, 40mm thermaline plus is approx £30+vat per sheet

    I dry lined a wall using this info-
    dot & dab

    Are you sure about the two mechanical fixings being a must?

    Do you know how long it has been a must for?

    This only applies to insulated plasterboard, Normal plasterboard requires no other fixings

    Is thermaline the best product, would you say? I've seen Kingspan Kooltherm on the web. Also, what if I am placing the dry lining over a wall that is already plastered?

    Kooltherm K18 is just as good

    Dont compare the prices, compare the u values on similar thickness boards

    Attaching over exisitng plaster is easier, Just use 2x1 batons and fix to wall at 400mm centres

    thanks for that. 2 x 1 - I'm a bit thick when it comes to DIY. Will the batten stand out from the wall 2" or 1" (And I definitely can't 'glue' tye thing on?)
