Alliance and Leicester current account problems

I have an old A&L account that I know longer use, it has a £500 overdraft limit and I am slowly paying it off.
I don't get any statements and can only access it online however a few months ago I couldn't get online with my access details and was locked out, I couldn't get through to speak to anyone on the phone so I have carried on just paying each month hoping to clear it.
Anyway, I recently got my credit report which showed I had 3 months missed payments to this account and it was £579 overdrawn, I phoned them immediately and they told me they had been sending letters, which I have never received, it turns out they had sent them to my old address, they have my new address as I have a letter from them dated 8th October 2008 which was sent to my current address
I told them I had been locked out of my online banking and gave them the details I had, they then told me that they had changed the format of the ID's a few months back but again had not informed me of this (presume they sent it to my old address).
I asked how much I needed to pay to clear the OD and any charges and was told £79, so to be on the safe side I paid £100 immediately on 22nd July through my first direct online account and set up a SO to pay £50 a month from 20th of this month (when I get paid) I also asked if they caould reset my online banking which they did and they said they would resend my PIN to me.
As yet, I haven't received the PIN so still can't access the online account, however today have received a letter stating I am £579 overdrawn. I have phoned them and told them I made a payment on 22nd July but they told me there were another £100 charges added on 4th August. So I have now had to pay another £105 from my first direct account just now to clear this and they have assured me there are no more charges, but how do I go about claiming all this back?
I am so mad as when I made the payment on 22nd July the lady only told me to make a payment of £80, she never told me there were going to be anymore charges added, I have been waiting for my PIN to come through so I can access the account and it hasn't as yet so how am I supposed to sort the account out if I can't get access to what fees they are charging me etc?
Is it worth me complaining or should I just take it on the chin? I wish I could just afford to pay the £500 off!!!

Write it down in a chronological order and send it to their head office and state that due to their maladministration of your account they have made charges to your account.
Make sure you get them to confirm that your address is correctly registered.0
