avtive sync help please!

hi I have installed active sync onto windows xp to link with PDA , it has installed o.k and syncronised with device,(dell PDA) but then it cuts out and says error .Can anyone suggest what to do next please?

It could be a few things depending or what else it says with the error.

without any more information the stock replies
get the latest version of active sync, there have been a few improvements mmade in the later versions
reinstall your existing first try over the top if that fails remove and reinstall.

because it is also linked in with outlook there could be a possible problem there but check activesync out first as that is easier

many thanks for your swift response. I have got the latest version installed already..have just been onto microsoft downloads, the error message gives no code or clues, I have a fair amount of spyware and ports blocked, could this have anything do do with the problem? I know my outlook is pretty sensitive in that it blocks a lot of pictures/files that are mailed to me, can you suggest what to do?

i've got an SPV Smartphone and Zonealarm doesn't like ActiveSync unless you tell it to let you access it

Antivirus shouldnt be a problem but some software firewall's can cause problems just disable your firewall and try a sync to see if it displays the error or not.

when you use activesync with zonealarm or any outbound firewall, you should get prompted to allow a server to run, allow it..

what is the error?

hi the error report that comes on pda is ;WIN ce501Bbex
repllog exe.
tried again today turned off internet connection & disabled norton.

is it time for the three hour phone call to DELL customer services yet?

Have you tried soft resetting the device? I get the same thing sometimes with my dell axim, I completely close active sync (so the icon is no longer in the task bar), restart it then soft reset my axim. This usually does the trick.
