It seems Argos is the only place left still selling Windows 7 pre-orders for £50 (with free del) you have to sign up to be emailed when it's back in stock as they go very quickly.
BUT, for a few pounds more you can get Vista upgrade plus a free copy of Windows 7 when it is releases so you are getting an extra OS for £20. The cheapest I have found is at PC World (yes I know how everyone loves them for hardware but it is only software) for £70 but I'm not sure now they've announced EU will be getting upgrade versions that you will now get that instead of full windows 7. That doesn't bother me too much to be honest but I was wondering if anyone has found any better bargains (not including Linux for free!) That are 1) still available and 2) definitely legitimate. Thanks!

WHy would you even want Windows 7? I would not bother with it until SP1 is released for it.0

I had a mail shot a while back from PC World with their Windows 7 offers.
But I just couldn't get enthusiastic enough to spend my money.0 -
I want to get it now because there won't be any offers by the time SP1 comes out, plus I want to go 64bit with my OS.
Anyway, I tested the beta on my computer and it ran faster than XP for me and didn't have any stability problems - I was very impressed for a beta of a massive OS to work flawlessly and I have no reason to think the initial release version will be worse than the beta. What's not to like? Don't hate it just because it's Windows.0 -
If I was gonna buy it I'd buy it now for that price then wait until SP1 does come out before I install it.0

Oh no, my procrastination has caused problems again. PC World is now only offering Windows 7 if you buy the full version of Vista. Does anyone know where you can still get a Windows 7 upgrade with the upgrade version of Vista?0

If you're lucky play.com might have a few copies left.
Have you tried Microsoft.com by any chance?

It's £79 for Home Premium (you won't get the "E" or "N" version you'll get the Full Home Premium install). But you'll have to download the Disk image and burn it to DVD. (You won't get a nice DVD if you get it via Microsoft's website.)
But you can if you add on P+P for them to ship you a "Backup Disk" which will be a boxed version of Win7 ^_^
*full disclosure*
I'm a Linux user through and through!!
But i've been testing the BETA and RC1 and to be honest it's a LOT better than Vista and bit better than XP (Win7 is better than XP just for the eye candy factor!) and I like it!
I've got my copy on order from Microsoft (I got it when it was cheep and I will be using Win7 in my Dual boot laptop. ^_^ but i'm still on Linux for my main day to day stuff...Laters
