Hi,
i bought a bluetooth GPS receiver from a business seller on ebay in January on a buy it now. The item came with 12 months warranty. It has now developed a fault (which is listed on the manufacturers website as a known fault)
I contacted the seller who said i should go to the manufacturer. I contacted the manufacturer, Holux, who after several emails repeating the troubleshooting i had already followed from their website, eventually gave a me a link to their UK distributer/repair centre (www.hsuuk.com) but i cannot find any contact details on their website... not much use!
i then contacted the seller again asking them for their returns process as the manufacturer route was not working. this is the reply i got.
"If you wish ours help, you can return the item to us first. We will take the basic checking and send it back to Holux Taiwan (fees will be applied) for the manufacturer warranty. The manufacturer will make the finally decision on the product condition. Any man-made fault will be charged before repairing/replacement.
If you are agreed with the above process/policy, please return the whole product(including every components) in a recorded package to us"
their returns process states the buyer is responsible for return postage - i have no quibles about that - but should i really be paying for them to return the item to Taiwan... that is their responsibility surely? i bought from a UK seller.
any idea's?

I would say that if the item you bought was with a 12 months 'manufacturers' warranty then you should be dealing with the manufacturer and that by trying to help the seller is being pretty good - if they incur fees, whatever they may be then you should be liable for them.
Sorry to say - if the manufacturer isn't being helpful...there's very little you can do. Annoying...sorry0 -
Have you tried Holux (based in Germany) for the European warranty coverage (not sure if this is the one you refer to in your original post)?
