Car insurance claim- advice needed please

Think I have fianlly found the right place to post this! Last night we had an accident in our car (both ok thankfully) but car looks like a write off. Problem is, we owe approx £5000 on loan and I know insurance are going to offer min price for car if its written off. Has anyone got any useful tips /advice etc on ensuring we get best possible deal from insurance company to minimise the debt we will be left paying with nothing to show for it. It was a pure flux accident with no-one else involved (except a fox and a drystone wall!), but it looks like it's going to be the debt that breaks the camels back so to speak. Thanks in advance.

Insurance companies do try to get away with the lowest possible prices (I'm sure they would jsutify that by saying they are keeping your premiums down).
Most people dispute the value and if you search this board (or google) you will probably find an article on how to do that.
Ultimately you can take our claim to an independent ombudsman for free to get a fair settlement (will take some time).

However if your car is genuinely worth less than your loan and you did not take extra insurance for the "gap", then you are responsible for the difference.
The insurer, is responsible for paying for your car and not your loan.
If the gap is an issue then you need insurance (or save up or wait or get a smaller car & loan).
