this must be a new thing as when i booked a couple of yrs ago and didnt turn up on one of the £10 deals i wasnt charged any extra other than the original £10Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
Checking their T&Cs,
2 All bookings must be guaranteed or paid for by a credit or debit card. Supersaver/Saver bookings cannot be refunded and are only available at https://www.travelodge.co.uk.
3 Event bookings can be transferred to another name, and additional nights can be added. Event rate rooms cannot transferred to another date. Supersaver/Saver/Event rates must be paid for at time of booking.
5. Unless specified otherwise, Flexible/Partner bookings can be cancelled up to 12pm on the day of arrival using https://www.travelodge.co.uk/manage_your_bookings/ or by calling 08700 850 950. Cancelling later than 12 noon will incur a charge for one night's stay per room booked.
6. Supersaver/Saver/Event rates can also be cancelled using https://www.travelodge.co.uk/manage_your_bookings/ but are non refundable.
So 3 says Saver/Supersaver must be paid for in full at the time of booking.
5 says only flexible/partner bookings can be cancelled and gives the limits and penalty rate for not doing so. This therefore, does not apply to Saver/Supersaver bookings.
However 6 says you can cancel a Saver/Supersaver but you don't get a refund.
Nowhere does it say you will be charged a penalty for failing to cancel a Saver/Supersaver room. So contest the extra charge. If travellodge won't refund, dispute that transaction with the credt/debit card company.
On the other hand, it is probably an idea to cancel a Supersaver or Saver room if you know you aren't going to use it (since it can be done). Or you might be able to sell it to someone else !!!
23 If you resell a room, you must inform the end customer(s) (i.e. the person(s) who will actually be staying in the room(s) booked) in writing prior to their check-in of the price at which you booked the room with Travelodge.0 -
If you read the OP, you'll see that travelodge admits there shouldn't have been an additional charge. The difficulty is getting this charge refunded in a timely manner without a lot of hassle.0

Thanks everyone, will try the bank again as they originally said they can't do anything about it. No reply from the email I sent to Travelodge yet!0

To get a refund from the bank for a disputed card transaction it will take around 6 weeks. The paperwork goes to lots of different departments and ultimately results in them asking the Travelodge for the money back, waiting for it, putting it in one of the bank's suspense accounts, finding the paperwork and finally crediting your account.
It would be much quicker for you to get the refund directly from Travelodge by way of a letter of complaint.Just run, run and keep on running!0
