Bank Soulutions (possible scam!!)

HiI was called on my mobile last week by a chap from a company called bank or banking solutions. He claimed that following the court ruling recently re bank charges, the organisation had been tasked with crediting bank account holders with money they had previously paid to their banks following charges for overdraft, letters etc. I could not find anything about the compant on the internet.
He then went straight into asking me which account I would like the money paid into. He expected me to give him my account details over the phone, after providing me with some generic answers to my questions. I hung up.
Thought I better warn as many people as possible because it seemed like a scam.
Has anyone else had a call/contact from these people?

"Seems like" a scam? Anyone who makes an unsolicited approach via phone or email and immediately asks for bank or credit card details or other key information is definitely operating a scam. Bank refunds? It was tax refunds from HMRC last week!
It is good that you were not tricked into handing over any information, and let MSE know about it. I just hope that they don't fool a lot of less sophisticated older people. I also hope that more and more people are getting the message and searching for company details before getting involved.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

If he calls up again ask him for his ministry of justice Claims Management Regulation number because they will be please to collect more evidence of underhand techiques to get you to part with your money/
To be clear, he is talking from his posterior. The House of Lords is currently deciding if the OFT can assess terms for fairness and the only judgement we have on personal current accounts is that they are not penalties in Law.

I made note of the number they called from, it was 01253 757066. God knows how they got my mobile number, I am normally very careful about giving it out. I remember the back ground noise sounded like a calling centre as I could hear a few people on phones in the background. Was all very suspicious.
Sorry I am a bit new to the forum, how can I let MSE know and alert people the do not see this thread?0 -

Any company telling you that they have been tasked with doing something like this is acting fraudulently. No company has [been tasked for this] and it is common thing with dodgy claims companies to say that sort of thing.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi
I also had a similar call last week on my mobile, but it was in regards to PPI. he said i had filed out an form on line to claim back ppi, to finish the application form I had to give him my bank details! I asked why he needed this for a PPi claim? He had some excuse but i just said goodbye and put the phone down. A few days later i recieved an email with the same request. I never thought of reporting this and so i kept no information. The worring thing was i had been looking at websites in regards to claiming PPi but i dont think i gave out my mobile or  email address!0 -
Just had a call from this number. Definitely sounded like a call centre. She said she was calling from Banking Solutions and asked if I knew how much I had paid in bank charges over the last six years. I said 'none at all' (I'm with First Direct!!) and she said 'sorry to bother you' and hung up. The annoying thing is how on earth they got my mobile phone number . . .
This answer seemed to get them off the phone though!!0 -
Just received a call on my mobile from this number, which I immediately rejected as I didn't recognise the area code and the call was certainly not from a friend. Then checked on Google and it seems to be an ongoing problem:icotbaske0
