Wii game from Tesco

I've been refused a refund on a Wii game: Grand Slam Tennis. I consider it not fit for intended purpose. My provided explanation is as follows:
“For this description, please bear in mind that I am left-handed. Briefly, the computer moves the computer character to the correct place and the player swings his/her arm correctly in order to hit the ball. Now, when the ball is sent to the left of the character, it is expected that the computer will move it into a position where it is then returned with a forehand shot (hit with the left arm on the left side). What actually happens on a very large percentage of shots is that the character runs beyond the ball and then attempt a backhand shot (left arm swinging on the right side). As the actual player is all ready and positioned for a forehand shot, the result is a farcical, un-entertaining and un-educating mess.”
Tesco have replied, effectively refusing, stating:
“If you have a problem with any CD, Video, DVD or Computer Software, we'll be happy to exchange it for the same title providing you have your receipt. If the game it's self is below expectation due to its design, then we are not liable and therefore we can not offer a refund.”
I believe that Tesco is wrong. How can I prove that and how far should I Go?
Thanks for any advice.

You are getting confused, "fit for purpose" means that when you place the disc in the drive, it is compatible for its intended purpose and works correctly with the game unit to which you purchased it for, that is where Tesco's liability ends.
It is the actual code of the game which you have an issue with and is more related to personal circumstances than fault design, therefore you have little recourse im afraid.
Perhaps Tesco would be kind enough to exchange it for a different game for you?0 -

I would have thought you can do this, as most of the sports style games I've played it does ask you.
I think you may have to resort to selling it on Ebay or something.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I was under the impression the rules have always been the same with Games/DVD's etc, ie you can't return them unless faulty due to copyright reasons.
I would suggest to OP to get a subscription with Lovefilm, then you can hire out games to see if they are any good before you spend your hard-earned cash on them.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
I just checked on Amazon to see if there were any issues from other users regarding left handed players. One user states there are right and left handed options for the game.
