I am going to a new accountant for 05-06 accounts once ive sorted them but i really think i need to get my original accountant to finish the job - he has done a draft submission and wants clarification on a few things before submission to the inland revenue so they havent actually got to the IR yet??

OH is going to speak to him on Monday as 04-05 the business was his and i worked for him - its only since 05 that the business transferred to me and its now in my name.....

The only way the IR would threaten your house is if you p---ed them off by fiddling large amounts of cash off them,It sounds to me hun that if you are making a fith of 45k,which is 9k there will be little or no tax to pay .

Have you looked at Sage too - both have their followers and I think are similarly priced but Sage seems to be more common (I havent used it in years and never seen Quickbooks but I've heard the Sage is more userfriendly).

Also - on an MSE note if there is only you and OH do you need the payroll system?

Hi - yes have looked into sage aswell as quickbooks bit i think the quickbooks regular with payroll will be the best option - it costs about £170 so its a big investment although its well worth it for me for the piece of mind alone!! Ive been looking around this afternoon and weve decided to go ahead with this one - also as i havent finished off my books from 05-06 for submission i can also put them into quickbooks and get the print off to go straight to the accountant - lots less hassle me thinks??

Awww, dotty, I'm no expert but please don't beat yourself up for feeling down and moaning, it's in the unofficial terms and conditions when signing up for this DFW malarkey. We are here to share in the good news and to give out virtual hugs when there is bad news. We all go through moany times (me especially) but don't fear that we think any worse of you for it. If anything my heart goes out to you and I wish I could be of more help.

Keep your chin up and give that accountant what for!!

    Hey Dotty :)

I've used both Sage & Quickbooks, and they'll both be fine for what you're doing - go with whatever one makes you feel more comfortable. I know Quickbooks pretty darn well, so PM me if you ever get stuck using it.

I'd agree with Jessicamb, though - don't get payroll if it costs you extra - it's easy enough to do it for 2 people...

It seems like you're making lots of decisions and taking control of things - well done you! And good luck! :T

Yay @ you for having another lightbulb moment - sort of. Things are only going to get better love, poke your accountant with a sharp stick and plough through that paperwork.
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Current Pay Off Target : £1500
