Can we talk ladies bladders?
Do you do exercises to keep the muscles tight/efficient?
What ones do you do?
Does anyone do the ones where you stop & hold a few times in mid stream, for different lengths of time?
I go a hell of a lot more during the TOTM (monthlies), proper going every hour or so.
Anyone else find this?

I do the stop and hold count to ten, and also the ones when you draw your bum muscles up when you sit on a chair, supposed to do about 50 a day i think, I do a few when I recall!
I find that all lower bodily funtions are more frequent at that TOTM, I think its hormone related.0 -
I remember reading somewhere that it isn't advised to do the stopping and starting thing because it can lead to a water infection.
Like jen, I do them when I remember. Which isn't often tbh!0 -

My DD said that, but I wasn't to sure if she was right.
What ones should you do then?0 -

Thats very true, i was reading an article on it just today funnily enough!! It recommended squeezing the muscles you use when having a wee, but not actually doing it when your weeing, if that makes sense!

I wee a lot the day before and day 1 of the curse.....gets rid of all the stored water that makes me so bloated during PMT days!
I rarely do pelvic floor exercises....probably because the midwife told me 21 years ago to do them at the bus stop, and I haven't used the bus in ages! I really ought to start doing them now I'm in my late 40's as everyone my age seems to be getting hysterectomies and I'd like to keep my innards intact if possible:D0 -
I got told the exercises are fine, as long as you balance them with the opposite motion - ie, trying to push it out as quickly as possible. The person who told me this was a urogynaecologist, who went on to say that the ladies who did pilates were great at the holding, but never learned to control the muscles the other way, so had uneven tone.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I'm doing them now!:o
I don't do it when I'm weeing but I do sometimes when I'm sitting work and thinking!
I wee a lot before I go down with a cold. Don't ask me why but I can be off almost every hour.

I was always told that to identify the pelvic floor muscles, you stopped and held mid flow.....then to exercise the muscles at other times.
*hands up those who are now flexing that pelvic floor* :T:T
Also, useful for a little squeeze during other activities
