Hi,
It's time to invest in a printer and and with me being limited for space I'm thinking of a wireless printer. I would welcome your thoughts on:-
1. Wireless vs. Wired
2. What to look for in a wireless printer
3. Best buys / worst buys
4. Where to buy
5. General experience
Thanks
G

Tesco - http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-8210.aspx £55.
Great printer, cartridges quite expensive and not many cheap replacements on ebay at the moment.
Use that as a starting point and work from there
1. Wireless definitely!
2. 802.11g standard
3. Nothing with expensive cartridges or cartridges you cant get on the high street (e.g. Brother). Kodak printer is good but expensive at start. It depends how much you'll use it.
4. Internet and High Street are quite competitive here so either really. High street easier to exchange, and they can explain the model to you beforehand
5. HP ones have always been great for me, it's just number of features really!0 -
NEVER,EVER buy a Lexmark! I've got one & the ink is REALLY expensive, I've read that the Kodak ESP 7 is a good machine & costs approx half of the price for ink. Wireless is great if you have a laptop or want to use more than one PC on your network.Hi,

I recommend a Canon Pixma MP620 - A premium blend of quality, speed and high-end features at a very reasonable price0

thank you all for your replies - they were all very helpful. Just one more question to throw into the mix - what about cartridge refills?0

genuine ones from shops are super expensive so either buy genuine ones or third party compatible ones (like Xerox) on eBay. I find that these refilling shops are expensive and use the wrong ink!0

We have just bought an Epson SX515W wireless printer and it's fab. It's a breeze to set up and we have 3 laptops connected to it. The printer is in the one place and we can just print from anywhere.
I got a full set of Epson original cartridges from Amazon for £22.34.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £16,797.770 -
I personally would only ever buy genuine ink - I cannot tell you the problems I had using "compatible" ink (it was anything BUT compatible!). If you look around on the internet you can get genuine inks cheap enough e.g. the 350XL ink that would go with the c4580 the first reply recomended has 5x the ink as a standard cartridge and is only a few quid more than standard size if you look around.
Some people tell you it is great to get cheap inks, but even if they don't ruin your printer, they never produce as nice results.0 -
There are a couple companies online that are dirt cheap:thank you all for your replies - they were all very helpful. Just one more question to throw into the mix - what about cartridge refills?

Another option is to buy a network-capable printer and plug it into your wireless router (or a switch in your network) with an Ethernet lead.
That works well, too: and it can be cheaper because the printer does not need to have wireless equipment.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.
