I have sold an item for £80, and the buyer says his paypal doesnt work, and wants to bank transfer.. He has +1 positive feedback.. and his name is Ben Benson (possibly the fakest name ever!?) Anyway, told him to pay through paypal, but looks dodgy to me!

Bank Transfer is safer for you than paypal. You can post the day after it goes into your account and it can't be recalled. Bite his hand off!:j30/7/10:j

No, bank transfer comes straight out of their bank account, no cc involved.:j30/7/10:j

No, the idea of bank transfers is that he has the money in his bank account and it is transferred to yours. After it clears in your account overnight it cannot be recalled at all.
It is so much safer than paypal, say yes quickly before he changes his mind.
Once you have received payment though clear it overnight in your bank account Check the next morning and if it is still there showing you are fine.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As i've said before I don't do BT. Its done a lot in europe but there banking laws regarding transfers are a lot tighter than the UK. I know i'm in the minority with that opinion over here but thats my reasoning0

I don't know of any banking laws that make BT unsafe for sellers. My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

If the money is in your account and cleared then it will not be taken out again - much safer than paypal.
Cheques from overseas are a different matter - do not accept these under any circumstances.
Personally, I wouldn't give my bank details to those in dubious countries, but that is only a personal opinion.
Seems to be a lot of people that have "problems with their paypal account", which only seems to cure 10 days or so after the auction end when they manage to issue an e-cheque - arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr0
