Front Door

My uPVC door need to be replaced. I've been looking at composite doors but I'd much prefer a wooden one, however, the door opens directly into an open plan room, which is quite difficult to heat. Are the insulation properties of a wooden door much worse than those of a composite one?

No, not if you get a decent wooden door. Get the best you can possibly afford and it will last a lifetime, real wood looks so much better and seems more substantial to me.

no a good quality wooden door can be just as
effective. Our back door is in our sittingroom
and its been fine.We got a solid hard wood door
you can get them now with double glazed glass
panels in.The back of our place gets the
worst of the wind and rain and its kept
out drafts really well. Its about ten years
old and we have not had a problem with it.
We went to one of those places that only
    sells wooden doors & windows.

I am changing mine next year as I
am getting patio doors fitted and decking.
Otherwise I would have been quite happy to
    keep it.
