Problems with nPower

Hi all,

I moved into a new build property in March last year, and we were immediately signed up to nPower as the electricity supplier.

We ended up receiving the wrong bill for over a year, which was more than double what we eventually paid as we refused to pay a penny until they fixed the problem.

It took them over a year to fix the problem, and missed several appointments where they were supposed to send an engineer out but none arrived.

I've kept all the letters (including the letters they accidentally sent from their collections department), and I was wondering if we were eligible for any compensation due to several lost days waiting for them to arrive, and the general stress of them taking over a year for the correct bill to arrive, regardless of us telling them each time a bill arrived that the meter serial number was wrong.

This is very similar to the problem I had too; Eon were powering us until I switched to NPower (last Aug) but unbeknown to everyone, the wrong plot numbers were linked to the wrong electricity supplies therefore Eon have been powering us all along when we were paying NPower. We were telling both companies until we were blue in the face that something was wrong as I was receiving bills from Eon but both said they were in the right and powering our property. Took it further and complained to NPower who 8 weeks later said they have sorted it by backdating the charges-um, no as I am having to pay Eon the back dated charges. Npower have said that they will start the supply up again properly but still not happy with what has happened and I've taken it to the energy ombudsman. We sent a letter to Npower asking for some sort of compensation for all of the telephone calls we made to their call centre but they said they wouldn't give us anything-its maybe worth a shot as your case may be different :-)

    Would never switch ever again!!!

  • We're thinking of switching to British Gas once all this is sorted, but obviously we don't want to leave nPower until we've got what we believe we are owed. We've not even had an apology

I think we are owed something for the missed appointments, but I'm not sure how I'd go about getting what they owe us.

It's ironic, if you owe them 1p they'll send in the dogs, but when the shoe is on the other foot...
  • it is beyond me why anyone wants to use npower, had one of their scumbag salesmen calling the other day.
he pretended to be tracing some previous occupent untill i told him to do one
