Lloyds TSB - Charges

I received a letter from Lloyds saying they had not been able to pay a direct debit and that i was 96.48 overdraw and that they would be charging me a monthly fee of 15 pound for a unplanned overdraft as well as a daily fee of 25 pound for me being nearly 100 overdrawn this has now gone to 116 overdrawn and they will now charge me 20 pound a day

i am going to put money in my account tomorrow to clear the outstanding overdraft but surely they cant apply these types of charges they say in thei letter...can they?

They can but you can also reclaim the charges back using Martin's guide to reclaiming.

  • They certainly can charge you, but they can't actually get away with it.......
I got £167 of charges wiped by counter staff, simply by being a pain in the !!! during a busy time of the day.
I also paid in enough money to clear the debt and closed the damn account, then reclaimed every charge they'd ever made over the past 6 years........
    It's very therepeutic

  • What did you say to get your money back, LoopyOne? I've had similar situation - my wages went into my account late (long story - I'm employed by my parents who had to go abroad at short notice and didn't do payroll on time!) so one DD was bounced (£20) and I've been charged a total of £30 unplanned overdraft fees. I so can't afford this - desperate to persuade them to give it back as I'm usually very careful with my account. Don't know whether to ring, write or go in to branch, whether to cry, beg, or demand! Any help much appreciated. (Its LloydsTsb, by the way.)
