Hi,
Any of them would do the job, but I would stick with the hand propelled versions, as they are lighter and there are less parts to go wrong.
I do have a slight prejudice against Mountfields, as they were well known for the wheels dropping off, a while back. But I haven't heard anything recently, so they are probably okay now.
I use a Champion R484P, which looks very similar to the Homelite HL454HP. I got it from Focus:
http://www.focusdiy.co.uk/Garden-Power-Tools/Champion-R484P-Petrol-Push-Mower/invt/180168&bklist=
It has been very reliable, despite a fair amount of hardwork (I garden for a living, but not an enormous amount of lawn mowing), I estimate it has cut around 960 lawns from new.
Maintenance is simple, sharpen the blade as needed, an oil change twice a year and new spark plug filter once a year. Although all the bolts need regular checks, as they tend to unscrew.0 -
Petrol mowers can be a pain in grass, when you have to get them serviced, it can be jolly expensive. My Garden is over 35m long, and 10m wide, and I use an Electric Bosch Rotorak with grass box, brilliant, and no mucking about filling petrol cans at 1.04 a litre....My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

Hi
I've got one of the Homelite ones. My BF thinks its great. Its one of those things that all the boys want to have a shot off. My Dad has even volunteered to cut the grass. The only downside to it (but I dont think its a downside) is that I dont have the upper body strength to pull the cord to start the motor or to actually start pushing it. However, none of the men have had any problem. I am obviously a puny little girl
