sold second hand shoes

Hi

Sold some second hand shoes that my little boy had worn for a few months. I sold them as used however buer has mailed me at the weekend saying they dont think the quality is good enough and that they had seen the same shoes in a shop for the same price brand new.

My thoughts are the fact they can be bought brand new somewhere at the same price is irrelevant but how do i proceed regards the quality?

Thanks in advance

  • If they haven't paid a lot tell them to return them to you and offer to refund them purchase price. That way there will be no more hassle from them but they will end up paying 2 lots of postage. I have offered that to several picky purchasers and only once had someone return something. Sometimes its better that having a lot of hassle and the dreaded neg feedback.

Ask them what they mean by 'the quality isn't good enough'. It's a bit of an ambiguous statement and could mean anything. I agree, the price is irrelevant, they were the one who chose to bid/buy it now at that price!

  • Thanks. It just annoys me when they are listed as used so obviously they have been, erm, used!!

Perhaps if they wanted great condition they could have asked whilst the auction was open

Especially for children. The shoes mould to the correct shape for their little feet, so they wouldn't fit another child properly, would they? I guess if they hadn't been everyday shoes, and weren't worn much, it might be OK.
  • Are they meaning the original quality eg they expected leather and received plastic or do they mean they were more 'used' than expected.
  • Im glad some people buy them as it earnt me a tenner!!

Yeah they thought they where more worn than what they expected. I didnt make any reference to how worn they where - the more i think about it though the more loathe i am to refund or offer anything as i dont think i did anything wrong.
  • Were there pictures of said shoes on the listing?

Yeah - ive checked the pic out earlier and you can see a bit of wear but not much. As there really wasnt any.

OK so if i refuse the worst i get is a neg right? I can cope with that rather than backing down
