workmen scratched my laminate flooring

fto

I have had a new boiler and some radiators fitted the workmen put toolboxes on my recently fitted laminate floor & have made a deep scratch in it.The flooring was fitted before we installed the kitchen, so goes under the units.................& we started from under the units so the lot will have to come up.A manager from the company came and inspected it today & told me to buy one pack of laminate & send them the bill.
Surely its up to them to repair the floor and not me ???.
I should also add most of the work was paid for by a warmfront grant.

I would contact Warmfront and explain what has happened and hopefully they will put pressure on the contractor to pick up the bill for the cost of refitting the flooring.0

warmfront are bloody useless, ruined my house with their shoddy wall insulation, just makes it damp as theres not enough ventilation (blocked up with goop).0

Surely they should pay for any work done in addition to paying for the laminate.0

I work for a logistics company and we get claims for scratched floors and broken floor tiles whilst we have been fitting and removing stuff like cookers and fridges.
If it's a genuine case then we would foot the cost of repairing the floor and in your case getting someone to fit it.
Phone the company up and tell them that they need to arrange for someone to supply and fit any flooring panels that are needed at their cost and you would prefer it if they can sort out all the details for someone to come and do it rather than you running round trying to get someone to fit it.
Hope this helps a little bit.If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -
I'd be inclined to ring and say you are about to purchase the replacement laminate, do they want you to arrange for the same fitter you used originally to attend to it and send them the whole bill, or do they want to make the fitting arrangements themselves?
Don't forget when dealing with companies on the phone, note the time/date when you called and ALWAYS get the name of the person you are speaking to.0
