USA 5 months – best way to use pay?

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about what’s the best way to spend/ access my money aboard.
I’m travelling to the USA for 5 months to study so will need regular access to my money. I leave in under 3 weeks so don’t have the time to get a new credit card. I have a LloydsTSB credit card and debit card and a HSBC debit card. I’m slightly confused after reading the advice on the website about which one is best to use (apart from not the Lloyds debit). What do people think of prepared cards? Is it worth it for such a long time? Any advice would be greatly received.

Depends on what you're thinking of spending I would of thought.
It may be worth opening a US back account (if you're going to be in the same place for a while and have a postal address - I used my work one). I've just moved to the US and opening a bank account was very simple.
You can then transfer funds via TorFX (for example). Then you pay no fees when withdrawing money.
Taking cash for 5 months I wouldn't of thought was an option...0
