Hi All,
Having found myself a decent laptop pre christmas I am now on the hunt for a one for my nephew.
He will be using it mainly I would assume to play games/look on internet/homework.
Budget is £240 tops.
Im being tempted by this one:http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/store/dix_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0298096393.1249651971@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccdadehmhgkjfgcflgceggdhhmdfhk.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=924904&category_oid=-34420
at the minute, was thinking get this and maybe add another 1gig memory to it?
Any help much appreciated

Ei? Ei?? Never heard of them. Probably some rehashed Advent from Outer Mongolia.
Must it be new? I would trawl eBay for better value...0 -

You could always get one with some warranty remaining and then extend it with a third-party.
£240 wont get you super-far new. How about this: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159081?0 -

Too expensive still
I know that the budget is tight, I just want to get him the best possible laptop for his pennies!0 -
I would then seriously consider nearly new via eBay. Even this eBay comes with a paltry 1GB....0

if you really really push an extra £50 you can get a real bargin and get a laptop with a core 2 duo processor and a large screen
plus a renowned brand with good reliability
http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Toshiba_Satellite_Pro_L300-29_Laptop_PSLB9E-04L003EN/version.asp?PID=1049
or another £10 on that
http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/asp/versions.asp?rewrite=Toshiba_Satellite_Pro_L300D-20R_Laptop_PSLC9E-00V001EN&pagetype=version&PID=1049
this also has a duel core processor(slightly better than the other)
more hard drive space
2gb of ram not 1 which is useful
and similar graphics capability's
one word of warning is that those prices deduct the £50 cashback offer
so to actually buy the laptop you need to add £50 on to the price which you later claim back by sending a for to toshiba who credit you the amount bringing the overall cost to what is advertised
so your nephew will need help to afford it initially
but i really strongly recommend these two laptops
theyre so much better than anything else you will fond for £250 and are worth spending the extra money for the featuresBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -

There are ten pages of laptops around the £250 mark.
Just change the search at the top to "Inspiron Notebooks" (under "stockrooms").0
