Economy 7 users - check your bill
Hi,
We have just changed supplier and had the final (and first as we changed suppliers as soon as we moved house) bill from the old energy company. They managed to mix up the day and night rates and thus the final bill was over double what it should have been. The confusion comes from the fact (according to the CS rep) that in some areas, Rate 1 is daytime and in others it's night time. The CS got us to do a meter reading for them and then told me to call back a couple of hours later with another reading. From this, they would be able to see which of the 2 rates had changed as we used electricity during the day. In our area (Southern), Rate 1 is daytime with our meter. Also, the meter will say "Rate Now" above the current rate.
It is well worth checking your bill to make sure that they are the correct way round. I hope this helps somebody.

I had a new electric meter fitted and all was fine. I read the meters, put them in the BG website and we all went along happily until a bloke turned up one day to read the meters and he got them the wrong way round. It took about 6 months to sort out and countless calls to BG!!!
How hard is it to read a meter? On the meter I have the currently used rate (night or day) flashes to make it obvious as to which is which!0
