Advice On Taking a Mortage With Redstone/Beacon

Hi there,
I was looking for some opinions or advice on Redstone/beacon. Im looking at taking a 2 yr fixed mortage with them and then leaving to go to a high street lender. For a few minor reason, and current climate, im struggling to get a normal lender. We have one default (caused by a few pounds over draft we we'd forgotten to pay). Not sure how long this default takes to go away.
I have googled them and all i have seen are real horror stories. Enough to put me off!!
Does anyone have a good word to say about them?
Should i wait until my default has gone?
Advice would be much appreciated!!

6 years for the default from the day it was registered and Beacon are fine...
Might be an idea to get a copy of your credit report and then speaking to a whole-of-market mortgage advisor (or is it adviser?).Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thanks. Got the credit report, we are raising and enquiry but i doubt it'll go anywhere!
All the things i've read up on say things like they would say you're in arrears even when you're not. I cant find a good word anywhere. Just worries me slightly, if you're accused of being something when you're not (fair enough if you are and really cant pay) and also whether this would affect my credit rating when we come to leave them in 2 years if they did do.
I dont know.....its my only option i know, but is it worth the risk:o0 -
Depends on how desperate you are to jump into the mortgage debt money pit.0

Not desperate, dont 'need' to move house, just wanted a change. But looks like this defult for £100 which was paid as soon as we had a letter (it was for being in an authorised o/d. Didnt know they could do that) is going to be on our record for the next 6 years. Will probably want to move within that time anyway, being self employed doesnt really help either.0
