Blotchy Patchy Magnolia Paint

Hi,

Tried to touch up some old marks the other day with some magnolia paint. Sure enough, the paint was darker than that on the wall (I didn't use primer) and the splodge looked ridicluos.

Bit of effort but painted the whole wall instead today again without primer.

Its magnolia on magnolia - but the wall is drying (and has now dried in some parts) patchily. I had been told to just keep on applying paint but that sounds stupid. The new paint "appears" darker than the original stuff on the wall when dried.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Even though your going Mag on Mag, your still better off doing another coat.

If you have used straight from the can, then the paint is thicker, and will look more patchy, try thinning the 2nd coat by about 10%, it will cover more evenly and look heaps better.

it may be that there is a problem under the paint surface, in the wall itself, hence different drying rates.
you can try sealing the wall first. then apply the emulsion. always paint the whole wall. patching up never really a good idea. and any time/paint saving is minimal.
    Get some gorm.
