Natwest Step Account/ Co-op Cashminder

Two years ago Barclays Bank incorrectly credited my account with £100 missing from the cash i paid in over the counter. Even though i proved the amount with the recipt they gave me it took 18 months and the finacial Ombudsman to return this money. I have asked Barclays to return all the charges i incurred due to their mistake. Barclays continue to refuse and now i just want rid of Barclays and to set up a new account.
Unfortunatly i dont have a very good credit rating anymore and will have to apply for a basic bank account. The best two i seem to have found is the Natwest step account which is good because i have a local branch or a co-op cashminder which seems to get good reviews. Looking into both i am still unsure what type of card you get, i am concerned that i may only recieve a solo card which im told you can't use online. Even though i have read the terms to these accounts i am also concerned about hidden charges.
Any regarding one of these accounts or somebody knows a bit about them would be great.
Many Thanks

My partner has a step account and we havent had any problems with it. He has a solo card and you can use it online, most places will accept them.
Not come across any hidden charges either
He doesnt have an overdraft and doesnt want one either.0 -
natwest step acc is a good acc0

with natwest step account you do get a solo card and yes a lot of places are accepting them now however natwest arent going to be issuing solo for much longer and it will be a visa debit card that will be issued.Currently working for NatWest Retail. All posts however are my views and opinions and are not expressing the views of NatWest or the RBS Group, my posts are there to help!0

With regards to this question I would say try yorkshire/clydesdale bank ready cash. They are not as abundant in branches as the natwest but you will find if you get it you will get a full maestro card rather than a disguised electron or Solo card0 -
Thanks i will take a look today.0
