When I check in the Network Connections, the message is 'Intel R Pro /Wireless 2200BG Network Connection' NOT CONNECTED.
The other icon in Network Connections is '1394 Net Adapter' 1394 Connection and it shows as CONNECTED.
The Icon on my laptop also says 'Not Connected'
But, I am still using the INTERNET!!

In Network Connections, click View - Refresh. What does the Intel Wireless Network Connection say now?
The 1394 Net Adapter is actually a FireWire adapter for connecting digital video cameras and you can also use it to network other PCs, hence why it's shown in Network Connections. Do you have anything connected to the FireWire socket? You can disable it if no devices are attached.0
