Having Problems returning faulty laptop

Hi All,
Wonder if you can help. I purchased a new laptop, an Acer 8930G, and after a weeke a complete column of Pixels died on the screen. I spoke to the company where I purchased it from, who said they were happy to exchange the machine. Only problem is I work outside of the Uk, and won't be back until 5 days after their exchange deadline, which is 4 weeks
Are they able to do that, should I go direct to the manufacturer, or fight with the company I bought the machine from ?

Your contract is with the company from which you purchased your machine. Can you call them again and explain your situation, if they are halfway decent surely they will allow you to exchange it on your return. Get customer services to call the store in question and have a contact name for someone there who you can go to when you go in?0 -

I have told them I am out of the country and explained circumstances, they won't budge...Live life...0 -
