soap and shampoo that irritate tha skin

For quite a few years I have suffered with skin itch after bathing, no rash just an itch that goes on for about 1/2 hour or so after the bath has finished and is quite painfull. I have discovered that the culprit is an ingredient called Sodium laureth sulphate used in most soaps and shampoos, this is a poison and a known irritant. I have tried all types of soaps ect even baby products. My point, MUMS BEWARE as an adult I can complain and deal with it, young baby's cannot. Check out the baby bath, baby shampoo, soap you use, a very well known Brand has this ingredient in it.

Sls can be found in most haircare products and even Johnsons baby stuff has it in! Irritates by babies eczema something rotten.
  • Sodium laureth sulphate and sodium lauryl sulphate are two of the harsher foamers and irritants that are found in commercial soaps, if you have sensitive skin its best to avoid them. I suffered for years with allergies until I researched and found more about about the ingredients. Some people can use soaps with them in and suffer no reaction, I nowadays use sls/sles free, but usually natural soap made the old fashioned way.

Use real soap rather than liquid soap or syndet (synthetic detergent) bars like Dove.

If you want something nice in your bath, bathbombs (bicarbinate of soda, citric acid and essential oils) are simple to make and leave your skin feeling soft.

If you want some bubbles, look for bath products that use cocomidopropyl betaine. Also, sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (slsa) is a milder surfactant than sls.

I find it difficult to find a shampoo that doesn't make my head itch, and I do have sensative skin, any suggestions? Even some of the expensive ones (Kerastase for example contain it).I used to use a cheap shampoo with no ill effects for a long time, then suddenly developed this problem.

You could try using soap (real soap) followed by an acid rinse (either lemon juice or white vinegar).

This doesn't suit everyones hair, but it's worth a try.
