finding 'favourites' file on c: drive?

I want to copy all the favourites off one computer running XP home edn. to my new laptop running Vista prof. edn.
I thried exporting through IE & got an html. doc. with only the favourites in files, not the hundred or so ones that are not......so I have an idea that all these are located on the c. drive it's just a case of getting in there and copying & pasting them on the ext. h.d. then pasting them on the new pc.

Can anyoneone tell me the file route to this folder please?

    On my computer it's C\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Favourites.

Exporting favourites should export all the links (including the ones in the 'root' directory). The last time i did it, for some reason it dumped all the ones 'not in files' into one of the files. Have you had a detailed look through all the links inside the files? You might find them (alphabetically) dumped in a folder

Have a look in C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Favorites replacing USERNAME with your account name

Think your files will be hidden in your account

Try Windows Explorer Tools/Folder Options/View/Show hidden files and folders
  • ok......now I have found it I tried to import the file but it won't do it.....do I have to paste in a file on the new pc?

second question, want to export e-mails & address book from old to new, have exported to hard drive & tried to import but it tells me the file is corrupted and there's not enough disc space - it's a new laptop & the hard drive has 49gb left

Doesn't Vista come with a file and settings transfer wizard like Xp does?
