Increasing Egg Money Card Balance

I'm hoping to purchase a car at the weekend and want to try and use my egg money card as long as the dealer doesn't put a surcharge on it.

Now my limit is only £3K so am I correct in thinking I could pay £4K onto my card thus increasing my spending power to £7K?

If that is okay what is the quickest way of transferring the money, debit card....??? and how long will that take?

Many thanks

The dealer might only take a maximum of £500 from one card. I'd check first before you commit your money.

How do I make payments to Egg Money?

There are several ways you can pay into Egg Money. You can make payments using your monthly Direct Debit and by debit card, standing order, BACS/CHAPS (electronic transfer) or by cheque. In all cases interest will be earned on any positive balance from the day the money is paid to the account

BACS transfer takes abot 3 working days. CHAPS transfer is the same day, but costs about £20.
How do I make a payment by BACS/CHAPS?
To make a BACS payment to your account:
Ask your external bank to transfer money by BACS, using the following details:
    Sort Code: 40-02-50
    Account number: 11202073
Reference number: your Egg Money number (the long number across the middle of the card for your Egg Money account).
This payment takes four working days to get to your account and will then be available to withdraw. BACS is also a free method of payment.

To make a CHAPS payment to your account:
Ask your external bank to transfer money by CHAPS, using the following details:
    Sort Code: 40-02-50
    Account number: 11049151
Reference number: your Egg Money number (the long number across the middle of the card for your Egg Money account).
This payment is usually paid into your account on the same working day it's received but it will not show on your account and you won’t earn interest on it or be able to make withdrawals from it until the following working day. There is usually a charge for this service. Please check with the bank you are using for details of charges.

You are correct, but isn't it easier just to make two partial payments by Egg Money card and by debit card?

i was thinking of the cashback but it may be easier to use the debit card for the whole amount. Would there be a £500 limit on this too I wonder?

We haven't even been to look at the car yet, I'm just trying to get the money in place ready. Unfortunatley Cahoot don't do bankers drafts, only CHAPS.

When I bought my car, Peugoet would only take £500 per card up to a mximum of £2000. Definitely find out from theseguys before hand. They may also need you to pay an extra 2% in handling fees so that would be another £140, thus wiping out any cashback.
