Family tree created in Word

I'm using 60 day trial MS Office on my new laptop. I will only ever need Word. I've drawn a family tree in landscape (many members of family) but when trial ends I've seen elsewhere that Open Office would be good alternative. Will I be able to edit etc the tree using OO?

You should be able to , but a Word processor isn't really the best way of doing something like this , there are so many good Family tree packages out there (quite a few of them free).0

Thanks Tony MMM. In case it all goes pear shaped, where do I look for a family tree package - here or google?fitzroy0

Start here http://sourceforge.net/softwaremap/trove_list.php?form_cat=284
Or do a search on Google for free family tree software or the likes, not used any myself but a bit of trial and error and you should find something useable
EDIT
If you did go the Word Processor route, Open Office would be able to do anything you needed.Neil0 -
I would start with Personal Ancestral File (Paf5) which is a free download from here ..

Very simple to use - if you want a more powerful program later you can always export all your research into whatever you choose to use.0 -
Also check out Brothers Keeper http://www.bkwin.net/
Many, including me, find it very good, shareware but not too many limitations on no time limit trialWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
