ill try and keep it short ut bascially i seen an ad in the paper for BT advertising the house phone and broadband at just £18.00 with a free home hub worth £80.00 im with virgin media at the minute on a package where i get the tv phone and broadband, so my plan was to go to BT for the phone and broadband but stay with virgin for the tv that was im not canceling my virgin contract im just downgrading. So i rang BT all good at there end homehub in the post had a instlation date set and paid £25.00 as a deposit. When i then rang Virgin they then said no your contraact is all three items you cant downgrade to move somewhere else? ok. so i ring BT explain and cancel it thats totally fine sent the homehub back everything was sorted. Few days later i remember i paid them £25.00 deposit when i first rang them on 5th June they said oh yes dont worry because you have only just canceled it'll be in your bank in 3 working days. i have rang them over 10 tens every time i get wait 3 days wait 5 days wait 7 days its now 7th August still no money back! ive spoken to a manager on the 29th July who promised it would be in buy 6th August still no money!
what should i do???

    Hi sarahrigney1,

Ok I'll get this cleared up in a jiffy.

Could you drop me a PM with your BT account and telephone number?

    Cheers

  • I moved in to my house in February of this year and phoned bt to get a phone and broadband service. I was informed that if the line had been inactive for the previous 3 months I might incurr a reconnection charge. Gleefully I told them that the previous owner had only been out of the premises a few weeks and in fact there was a final bill in the property for him. The previous owner had requested I open this bill so he could pay over the telephone. I set up a direct debit for my phone and broadband and waited for my connection.
Telephone engineer duly arrived checked the line walked down my path to the bt box and connected my phone and then informed me that there should be no charge, happy days. I called bt enquired about my broadband and was told I would have to reorder, waited 10 days then broadband was installed.
Then arrived a bill with guess what a reconnection charge, argued my case strongly but got absolutely nowhere. Then discovered I had been mis-sold my package, numerous phone calls got nowhere, discovered that direct debit only covers phone cos of their failure to put through correct package. Received a bill for broadband argued again was told that as a gesture of good will would receive one quarter free broadband, then arrived another bill, another argument now awaiting copies of telephone conversations, dont hold out much hope, BT bloody twisters.
