    Hi
I have just wrote to my MP to see what they have to say on the matter of the CSA. So we will wait and see but if more people send a letter to there MP the goverment would have to look at the legislation regarding the CSA
  • They took my sons severe disability premium of CTC when calculating my DH child support!! We get that money to pay for the extra things he needs for his disabilities..their response ..tough it is an income that they are entitled to take into account

That is disgraceful how they live with themselves is beyond me.
Have you got intouch with anyone about this. It is bad enough with other children not counting children with disabilitys who need that little bit extra. Its not there fault they are born this way, there should definately be exceptions in these cases.
  • ive just notcied this thread and im myself in the same position...im a very angry mum right now my hubby just recieved his reviewed claim from his ex wife they have only taken into account the money i get for my children note chiildren that are not my hubbys but my ex they have taken into consideration my child tax credits as when he was on the phone to them last night they asked him if we got child tax credits he said yes and gave them the amounts today we found out that the usual 75 a month he paid has now gone up to ...yes belive this 288 a month so basically 71 pound a week money that my children now loose they toldhim to say if he did cos they could find out anyway from inland revenue

i found out also today ..VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE TAKE NOTE that a very close freind of mine who nos the system inside out and has dealings with them ... apparently the women he spoke to on csa had basically lied and said we can find out apparently... they cannot they can however find out if your hubbys get tax credits if it is in there name only misleading isnt it

if you are a current partner/wife of your bloke they cannot actually find out information via the inland revenue if it is in your name so if your new hubby is being asked on the phone if tax credits are being received for previous children and it is in your name say no they cannot by law find out any different if we had knowin this before he would not have so willingly surrended the information as a result now we are skint he cannot afford to go see his kids we did phone his ex aking if shed cancel the claim and we owuld pay 150 a month of course she said no hes so upset im upset to

DO NOT SURRENDER INFO its as simple as that both me and my friend have been caught the same way later she rang up and asked the info line thing and it it truex

if you are a current partner/wife of your bloke they cannot actually find out information via the inland revenue if it is in your name it cannot be in your sole name - tax credits are claimed as a household and therefore is traceable. so if your new hubby is being asked on the phone if tax credits are being received for previous children and it is in your name say no they cannot by law find out any different if we had knowin this before he would not have so willingly surrended the information as a result now we are skint he cannot afford to go see his kids we did phone his ex aking if shed cancel the claim and we owuld pay 150 a month of course she said no hes so upset im upset to

So, those of you who have children from a previous relationship and resent having your tax credits taken into account, I bet you don't resent the discount that the NRP gets because he is living with YOUR children, for whom he has NO financial responsibilty???? Money is therefore taken from HIS children in favour of YOUR children. So, if you actually worked it out, there is not much in it. Scrap the taking into account of tax credits by all means, but at the same time, scrap any discount for the fact that the NRP has step children.

I know you said those of you who have children from a previous relationship, well as I posted I felt I would reply. My children are not from a previous relationship. My children are my husband's financial responsibility just as much as mine.

We get child tax credits for my children which I don't think should be touched, the PWC gets them for hers which aren't touched. Sounds fair to me.

  • You said it - those with STEP children, I didn't say anything about natural children.
  • Agreed.

and for the record all this is an absolute minefield I dont envy he/she who is as we type drawing up the rules for CSA3.

When it comes to maintenance one suit does not fit all, unfortunately these people have the unenviable task of creating a service that suits all. I wish them all the luck in the world because they need it, I think at best all we can hope for is that they iron out the ctc wrinkles and cb and just be aware of all the children in the circumstances, :D like a lot of people i'm full of opinions but i'm afraid i dont have any answers.:o
