Csa are taking my other childrens tax credits

Hi
I have 1 child with ex partner and now have 3 with my new wife the csa are taking money from my wages plus child tax credit surely this is not right my ex wife gets the same as us plus lone parent allowence which obviously we don't get. But anyway the child tax credit money is there for the children isn't it so my first child i have with the ex has his tax credit plus a % of my other 3 childrens tax credit.
how is this right?
I pay csa for his up keep cause its my responsiblity not my other childrens responsibility yet they are taking there money.

It isn't right. In my opinion, it is disgusting. Apparently it should be changing once the new rules come through.

We have a private agreement with our PWC. This was one of the reasons I did not want to go anywhere near the CSA. We have agreed an amount based solely on my husband's wages. My tax credits are my income while I stay at home looking after our young children.

Sorry, new NEW rules lol CSA3 which wont be starting until around 2011. And then not everyone will be transferred over. I can't find anything about it other than what was written on here in another thread ...

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1715023

Has anyone ever noticed this on the CSA website ...

Income can also include certain benefits, tax credits and occupational or personal pensions. Bonuses and commission also count as pay or salary. We count Working Tax Credit as income if the non-resident parent’s earnings are higher than their partner’s earnings. If the non-resident parent and their partner’s earnings are the same, we include half of the Working Tax Credit in the child maintenance calculation. We don’t count Working Tax Credit as income if the non-resident parent earns less than their partner.

It only actually mentions working tax credit being part of income, not child tax credits.

Thankyou for your help No its not fair whats got me is kids are kids it's not there fault they are brought up in this mess its ours but the kids from the other 2nd family shouldn't suffer becasuse of the csa and there inappropriate rules. I thought the csa suppose to look after childrens well being. They only look after the children who are on there books the rest of the children no NOT matter.

Yep, that has always been my attitude with regards to the CSA. All good and well ensuring the children in PWC's households are provided for, but they don't seem to care in the slightest if it is done at the detriment of those children in the NRP's households. It's a disgrace.

One of the reasons I think that a private agreement should always be tried first.

I agree with you two. The CSA is only there for the children of the PWC the children of the NRP are of no consequence.

when I had our child, I claimed child benefit (good one this you'll like this one :rotfl:) right. so whats that at the time about 10.00 quid a week I think it was. any way, my husband asked me not to claim so I didnt but the welfare ladies that come to the house to weigh and check on the baby when you are first out of hospital kept banging on at me, so I applied because 'everyone' is entitled.:D

So I sent in the child benefit claim on the monday by the friday of the same week hubby gets a letter from the CSA saying that his payments will be going up by ..... yes you guessed it 10.00 a week lol. Yes DH was right no child benefit for our child. Think if i remember right csa and the child benefit at the time were dealt with by the same dept which might explain why they were so quick to deal with it. Within the same week now thats service for you. :D

Everyone said they cant do that, but I had the correspondence to prove it.

I claimed the child benefit which was for our child and then DH had his CSA upped by the same amount wheres the benefit  has this happened to anyone else, because at the time everyone we told said oh they cant do that, I felt like a liar but we had the letters to prove it, it was all a bit basil fawlty really. There were no change in our circumstances, no extra money coming in no change in jobs nothing like that.

Yes same happened here they just don't care, So really anyone who has a child with previous partner should claim tax credits cause what they give you in one hand they take out with the other. But really what they are doing is taking FOOD out of OTHER CHILDRENS MOUTHS. Who ever made up these rules must NOT have any children from previous relationships. If only you could see the future. lol

Tried private agreement wasn't interested all she is intrested in is getting full wack. Which you carn't blame her for but what she doesn't realise is it's taking food out of the other 3 childrens mouth. Have asked if i can make her payments out of just my wages. But all i got was a big fat NO!!

    Beggars belief, doesn't it?

Well hopefully when they finally buck up their ideas and do this new system (where I hope and pray) tax credits are not included, she can get stuffed basically. All you can do is struggle on through knowing you are doing the best you can for your children.
