Do you suit your hair colour?

My hair naturally is a mousy blonde..a wishy washy brown and i really hated it! (no offence to mousey haired people!) anyway i have been black (big no no took 3+ yrs to grow out!) brown (too dark for my face) gingery type blonde (again just looks odd) and have now got it light blonde (nice&easy 103..i think!) I think it looks nice and although it is light i dont tend to do the back underneath as well as i could and it is a mixture of slightly darker blonde so looks ok kinda highlighted..imo anyway! I am paleish but not aneimic so dont think i look too washed out.

BUT walking thorugh work this morning a lady who i have not seen for ages spotted me and said ' what's this what's this' grabbing my hair..of course i said 'it's hair'!! she said it is too light and doesnt show off my pretty face although it was very shiny!..i said that was a good thing as didnt want to see my face lol..i said i never suited dark and she said last time she had seen me it was dark and looked nice..i really dont think it does as makes me look paler but is nicer as looks glossier!..i said i liked it now and off i went!

BUT! i am now paranoid that i look awful..i know 1 person but hey i am like this!..have thought a long time about tryin to get some slightly darker blonde streaks through it and wondered if i could do it myself..would it go green?!..look odd?

What colour is your hair and do you like it?
Thanks for the replys!

I am naturally a mousy blonde too and hate it. I've been colouring my hair since I was 14. At the moment it is full of red and caramal highlights and looks great

"All over" colours can look really flat and artificial - I have at least 6 different shades in mine at the moment as I have just moved to an overall darker tone.

I think you really need to book yourself in for a professional consultation. A good colourist will help you decide what suits you and then going forward you may be able to do it yourself. Ideally speak to a friend who has a colour job that you like and ask her where she goes. If you live in the South West send me a PM and I'll give you the name of mine.

Initially it may seem a lot of money but your hair is the one accessory you wear every single day.
  • I have just gone from bright red and black which I've had for years to pink and blue and I love it!

Mine's mid-brown but it has some natural hints of red and blonde in. Not much but enough to mean that I've no wish or need to colour it and never have. I love it - couldn't be bothered with the faff or the expense of colouring it so am very happy with it the way it is.

My hair used to be naturally blonde but as I've got older it's gone darker, it's now a really dark blonde and seems to have reddish tints in it. Really hard to describe and all natural lol

I'm told it suits me (by the hairdresser!)

i always dye it myself, costs me £3.50 for a tub and i get two application per tub that last about 6 weeks each :)

Naturally my hair WAS mousey brown when I was younger - and I hated it, it just didn't suit me and it made me even more invisible to people (As though being just under 5ft wasn't enough as a teen).

So I started dying my hair around 13 and kept doing, I've had every colour under the sun except green and have had very few disasters. The only natural colour that really truly suited be was a red henna tint I used on my hair that turned it the shade of Alyson Hannigan's hair when she was in Buffy (alas due to too much bullying from the "popular" kids I dyed over it).

Mine's now blue and I pretty much alternate between this and bright pink. Oddly these two artifical colours seem to suit me better than almost all natural ones. But I have found that my natural hair colour has changed since I first started dying my hair - my roots used to be that mousey brown I couldn't stand, but now they are a deep brown shade like my grandfathers. Had it been that to begin with I wouldn't have gone down the dying route so soon.

  • I'm naturally a darkish brown but it's a very dull colour, not like some of these nice rich chesnut type browns, but it had been blonde for the past year or 2, similar shade to kate moss. I like to think it suits me! Naturally I have fair skin although to do wear fake tan all the time I tend to think that when my hair was darker it made me look washed out. I can't see myself going dark again any time soon!

I'm a natural blonde and suit it (I have fair skin too) so I am quite lucky. I've never ever dyed it. I tried on a dark wig one time, it looked awful!!!! :rotfl: My hair always gets compliments and so do my eyes - they are a nice vivid shade of blue. :o

Edit to say: I've always been tempted to try dyeing it bright red or pink or something! Maybe someday...
