Last minute hotel reductions?

Next moneysaving strategy-my attempts to claim on a price promise may be futile so,another question.

Have booked cheap flights to cote d` azur (£110 total with all taxes))and with a cheap Accor chain(ibis hotel) £150 3 nights which comes out quite good on tripadviser.This hotel can be cancelled up to the day of arrival with no charge.What would be the chances of doing last minute searches on other hotels in the town,Hyeres (nearest airport Toulon) and and getting better accommodation at a last minute rate (is there such a thing)Its the 5 -8th May 2 persons,.I originally wanted to stay on the island of Porquerolles but its solidly booked months in advance (unless anyone knows better,but i have spent a lot of time looking),so we hope to visit as a day trip.Dont know this area but if anyone else does would also welcome any tips.

Ibis hotels have the double beds pushed in a corner, which is why they are cheaper, but they are clean. easyJet have just launched a hotel sale, may be worth a look.
