Hi,
i hope this isnt a stupid question but .....
im going away on holiday for two weeks - is there a way that i can set up podcasts to automatically download ......even though im not going to turn my computer on whilst im away?
If so- does this mean that they will perpetually download onto my pc until i can think of a way to say stop??
cheers

You can't write data to a computer that's not switched on.
In theory, you could maybe save them to a remote server if you had access to one (such as by buying your own webpage/space. You would somehow have to set up a login script (to open up the server space each time you wanted to download something).
Probably just easier to take a flashdrive (?mp3 player??!) with you on holiday and download them to that in internet cafes.
What would you be downloading from ? e.g. simple html webpage or an application like itunes ?0 -
thanks for that.
unfortunately im not sure there will be many internet cafes in the campsites we are going to
so - if this is not a stupid question, do i actually need to log into the site where the podcasts are 'stored' eg radio 4 / 2 etc, or do they download when my pc is on - regardless of whether it is connected to that site or even on the internet at all.
And if i dont turn on that day - will i get two the next day etc
cheers

BBC are a pain with podcasts and holidays as they only keep the latest episode on their site and remove the previous one.
FeedDemon will automatically download podcasts if they are in an RSS feed, but your machine need to be on.
Or sometime you can find fan sites where people upload the podcasts.0
