Condensation inside double glazed windows...

Hello there,

I have a double glazed window in my loft extension - two opening casements on either side of a non-opening window in the middle.

The central window and one of the casements has what looks like condensation inside. Its quite dribbly looking and ugly. I intend to let this room and am thinking I probably need to sort this out (otherwise, as it's still weather proof, it would certainly not be a priority!).

Presumably some sort of seal has gone somewhere.

Can anyone advise please if it is possible to get the windows repaired rather than replaced? And how much it might cost? the windows look to me to me about 5' long and 3.5' high.

I am a bit anxious about just getting someone in, cos the last time I asked for quotes for something I was given estimates for a far bigger job than was necessary.

Many thanks
Queen-Bee

I take it the guarantee has expired?

    You could try these people:

  • The double glazed unit has failed, not the whole window just that unit it's not repairable, and will require replacement.

As metioned above, the double glazed sealed unit has failed, allowing moisture and therefore condensation in between the 2 panes of glass.
It can be repaired, but in my opinion, it's not worth it as a replacement unit will be just as cheap.
You should be able to get both units changed for around £80 - £100

Thanks - it sounds as if replacing the 'units' is the option I should go for.

Can anyone recommend a company in London?

I know it sounds a bit wet, but whilst generally, I am quite capable in my own right, my experiences with getting people in to do things hasn't been great..
