advice needed - didnt renew car ins in march taken 5 payments & wont refund ?

Hi, some advice needed, my cousin cancelled her AA car insurance in March as the renewal came through and was too expensive and renewed with another insurer, she informed them she didnt want to renew by a phone call and sent back the renewal documents.

She has just noticed that they have been taking the monthly payments (5 in total) and has been trying to get a refund from them They acknowledge on the phone that she cancelled but are refusing to refund her ?

We dont know the legal standing does anyone else know ?

She needs to put a complaint in writing to the AA and provide them with 28 days to respond to and rectify the problem, if no response is given within this time, she should write to them again notifying them that she will be submitting a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
